WildlifeCumbria is rich with wildlife. Our garden at Stockwell Hall Cottage attracts a large number of visitors which can be observed through the windows, birds vary from small wrens to larger blackbirds and thrushes and the woodpecker is always a popular visitor. As well as the birds we get rabbits playing in the garden, if your lucky you might see a badger, fox or the acrobatics of a red squirrel. As well as wildlife we have our own animals on our smallholding including Tansy and April the friendly Shetland ponies, Tansy has now got a lovely foal called Charlie. We also have sheep which lamb in April. It is a lovely sight to see lambs skipping and playing in the fields. You can get your fresh eggs from our hens who are always pleased to be given a few scraps of bread or corn supplied by ourselves. We also hatch some of the eggs so you can sometimes see the baby chicks. The dogs Ben and Holly are full of fun. Ben loves to play football but Holly is happier lying in the sun and taking a nap. Smokey is our cat. She, like all cats, just likes to do her own thing but is sure to pay a visit. This year we have dug a new vegetable patch and are enjoying our own home grown vegetables. We may be able to supply you with some at certain times of the year!
